Casual Elegance transforms a formal dining room

This room had expensive items that the owner did not want to part with. For example, the drapes were a linen fabric from France and the console was a 200-year-old French antique. The chairs were also antiques and the wainscot had designer Straayed (French).

My first impression was this room needed to be less formal, so we took the large rushed pelmet off the drapes and implemented a wood pole. We also painted the wainscot and added grasscloth on the walls. The large dark wood console was moved to another area in the house and we found a large French Console, and had that painted. Finishing touches included painting the Tramu and adding new artwork. The finished product created a casual sophisticated dining room that could be enjoyed by family and guests for years to come.
